Ben Affleck to play Batman in Superman versus Batman movie

BEN Affleck is going to play Batman in the new Batman versus Superman movie.
After Warner Bros failed to convince Christian Bale to reprise his role from The Dark Knight franchise, the studio lined up Affleck as the replacement, according to Variety.
The Batman-Superman film, to be directed by Man of Steel helmer Zack Snyder, will open world-wide on July 17, 2015, with Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Diane Lane reprising their roles from Man of Steel. Beyond that, little is known about the story.
But a statement from WB president Greg Silverman said: “We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some.”
While Snyder himself commented: “Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”
Ironically, Affleck was one of the names touted as a possible director for a long desired Justice League movie. But he declined.
He has also said in past interviews that he was done with superhero films, having played Dare-Devil to unsuccessful effect early in his career.
He has since gone on to become a heavyweight actor and director in Hollywood circles, with his most recent film, Argo, winning Best Film at this year’s Oscars.
Affleck becomes the eighth actor to play the Caped Crusader, following Bale, George Clooney and Michael Keaton.
