Benedict Cumberbatch in talks for The Lost City of Z
Story by Jack Foley
BENEDICT Cumberbatch is in talks to star in The Lost City of Z.
Based on the book by David Grann, the story follows Percy Fawcett, a British colonel who disappeared in the 1920s searching for a mythical city he had said he had discovered on a prior expedition.
Variety is speculating that Cumberbatch’s interest in the project may have been the reason why he recently dropped out of horror flick Crimson Peak by Guillermo Del Toro.
James Gray is directing the film, while Brad Pitt is among its producers.
Cumberbatch has a busy few months ahead of him with 12 Years A Slave, August: Osage County and The Fifth Estate all due to be released in the coming months.
He is also due to shoot The Imitation Game, a biopic based on the life story of mathematician Alan Turing, the man responsible for cracking the German Enigma Code during World War II that helped the Allies stave off defeat.
That film is being directed by Headhunters filmmaker Morten Tyldum and also stars Keira Knightley and Downton Abbey‘s Allen Leech.
