Benedict Cumberbatch to star in Blood Mountain

Star Trek Into Darkness

Story by Jack Foley

BENEDICT Cumberbatch is to star in the thriller Blood Mountain.

The film follows a private military contractor whose special forces team is ambushed and killed during a covert raid, forcing its leader to personally escort one of the world’s most wanted terrorists over hostile terrain to bring him to justice.

With enemies and mercenaries closing in, the two must work together in spite of their differences in order to survive.

Variety, which broke the story exclusively, has not stated what role Cumberbatch will take and there is no other word on casting at this stage.

But Sergei Bodrov (Mongol, Seventh Son) will direct from a script by Jonathan W. Stokes.

Principal photography is due to commence in Morocco in April.

Cumberbatch was most recently seen on the small screen in the third season of BBC drama Sherlock and, on the big screen, in Oscar nominated ensemble August: Osage County.
