Blade Runner sequel gets 2018 release date

Story by Jack Foley

THE sequel to Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner has been given a US release date of January 12, 2018 – over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.

Ryan Gosling will star in the project alongside Harrison Ford, who will be reprising his role as San Francisco police officer Rick Deckard.

The sequel is being directed by Denis Villeneuve, of Sicario fame, and is based on a script by Alien: Covenant writer Michael Green and Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the original sci-fi classic, based on Philip K. Dick’s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Principal photography is due to commence in July of this year (2016).

As yet, plot details have not been revealed.

The only other film that is currently set to open on the release date is Paramount Animations’ Sherlock Gnomes.
