Bond 23 gets release date and confirms Sam Mendes

Daniel Craig as 007 James Bond

Story by Jack Foley

THE release date for the 23rd James Bond movie has finally been released by the film’s producers: November 9, 2012.

Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli made the announcement on Tuesday (January 11, 2011) when they also confirmed that the film would go into production in late 2011 with Sam Mendes directing (as widely predicted before MGM went into financial difficulty).

The script for the movie has been written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan and, for now, the film will operate under the working title of Bond 23.

Daniel Craig has also been confirmed to return as 007, with Dame Judi Dench likely to follow as his superior. As yet, no more details have been released but the news will come as a relief to Bond fans who had feared for the long-term future of the franchise in the wake of MGM’s troubles.

Several studios are now courting MGM to release their movies, including Bond 23, with Sony and Paramount as the leading contenders, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
