Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to star in By The Sea
Story by Jack Foley
BRAD Pitt and Angelina Jolie are to reunite on-screen for the first time since 2005’s Mr & Mrs Smith for new drama By The Sea.
The film will also be written and directed by Jolie and distributed world-wide by Universal Pictures, who are currently working with Jolie on her latest directorial project, Unbroken.
Although plot details are sketchy, the film is being described as a relationship drama by trade publication Variety.
Jolie said in a statement: “I am very happy to continue my relationship with Donna [Langley, chairman of Universal Pictures] and the entire Universal team as I finish Unbroken and begin work on By The Sea. They have created a very special place for storytellers, and I look forward to the continued passion and support they have provided to me as a filmmaker.”
Langley added: “Angelina continues to showcase her extraordinary storytelling abilities in front of and behind the camera, and we are thrilled to extend our relationship with her on By the Sea.
“Angelina and Brad represent two of Hollywood’s brightest talents, and we are excited to be a part of their collaboration on this powerful piece.”
Jolie is currently in post-production on Unbroken, which chronicles the true story of Olympian and war hero Louis Zamperini. The film has been adapted from author Laura Hillenbrand’s best-seller and stars Jack O’Connell in the lead role.
Universal will release Unbroken on Christmas Day, 2014 in the US.
