Brad Pitt in The Tree of Life

BRAD Pitt has revealed that his forthcoming zombie film World War Z could become a trilogy.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times the actor said that both the film’s distributor, Paramount Pictures, and director, Marc Forster, envisage the film as a three-parter that could do for Pitt what the Bourne films did for Matt Damon.

Certainly, the first film will be shot in the same grounded, gritty way as the Bourne movies.

World War Z is due in cinemas next Christmas and finds Pitt playing a UN fact-finder and family man who races around the world to determine the origins of a zombie pandemic that has caused the collapse of civilisation.

Adapted from Max Brooks’ novel, it will also have social and political resonance and is also being viewed as similar in style to Steven Soderbergh’s recent Contagion.

The film also stars The Killing‘s Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox and David Morse.
