Bradley Cooper talks Hangover 3 and changes to formula

The Hangover, Part II

Story by Jack Foley

BRADLEY Cooper has been talking about a third Hangover film, which he hopes to begin shooting in September 2012.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show while promoting the DVD release of The Hangover Part II the actor said he very much hoped the trilogy could be completed, adding that director Todd Phillips was at work on a script.

“I personally want to do it,” he said. “[And] I hope we’re going to start shooting in September… I know Todd Phillips is working on the script.”

Cooper also alluded to a potential shake-up to the existing formula, insisting that it could benefit the comedy.

“We adhered to the formula in the second one, for those of you who’ve seen it, and the third one, which would close the whole sort of trilogy, which now it would be a trilogy – even though we thought we would never make a second one, let alone anybody see the first one.

“I think it will take place in Los Angeles and maybe not adhere to the structure. It might be different.”

Cooper’s comments echo those of co-star Zach Galifianakis, who told Rolling Stone in June that he’s heard the plot ditches the format of the first two films and focuses on his character escaping from a mental institution with help from the “wolf pack.”

The Hangover Part II has grossed $327 million worldwide.
