Bridesmaids on course for two US comedy records

Bridesmaids

Story by Jack Foley

BRIDESMAIDS is on course to land two American box office records.

First of all, it’s set to become the highest grossing Judd Apatow-produced movie, surpassing Knocked Up

And secondly, it could well overtake Sex & The City as the top R-rated female comedy of all time domestically.

Bridesmaids‘ North American gross so far stands at $148.1 million, just behind Knocked Up‘s $148.8 million, meaning that it could well have beaten that total by Thursday.

Knocked Up remains Apatow’s top world-wide grosser at $219 million, although Bridesmaids has only just started to open around the globe. It is already the top film at the UK box office.

The film stars Kristin Wiig – who co-wrote the script with Annie Mumolo – Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne and Melissa McCarthy and is directed by Paul Feig
