Brie Larson to make directorial debut with Unicorn Store

Story by Jack Foley

OSCAR winning actress Brie Larson is to make her directorial debut with the comedy Unicorn Store.

The Room star will also produce and take the lead role in the film, which follows a woman called Kit who moves back in with her parents and then receives a mysterious invitation.

Unicorn Store is based on an original screenplay by Samantha McIntyre.

It was originally to have been directed by Miguel Arteta, with Rebel Wilson set to star – but that project fell through owing to scheduling difficulties.

Larson has a busy slate ahead of her. She will soon be seen in the blockbuster Kong: Skull Island alongside Tom Hiddleston, as well as the Captain Marvel movie, coming-of-age drama The Glass Castle and Ben Wheatley crime thriller Free Fire, which was recently announced as the closing film of this year’s London Film Festival.

Larson was awarded the Academy Award for best actress earlier this year for her portrayal of a young mother held captive with her five-year-old son Jack (Jacob Tremblay) in Room.
