Cannes Film Festival 2011: Line-up announced

TERRENCE Malick’s The Tree of Life, Pedro Almodovar’s La Piel Que Habito and Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive are among the films playing in competition at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, it has just been announced.

They will be joined by the likes of Lynne Ramsay’s We Need To Talk About Kevin, Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia and Julia Leigh’s Sleeping Beauty.

Of the other notable Cannes presentations, Gus Van Sant’s Restless will open Un Certain Regard.

While two high profile titles that are certain to add glamour are Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Jodie Foster’s The Beaver, which sees her reuniting with Mel Gibson.
