A THIRD film in Disney-Pixar’s Cars series is in the works, as is a sequel to The Incredibles.

Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the news while speaking at Disney’s annual shareholder’s meeting in America.

He said: “We have plans for a new Cars movie and on top of that Brad Bird is already working on a great story for a new Incredibles film.”

Iger also updated shareholders on the new Star Wars film, saying: “There will be some very familiar faces along with a trio of new young leads. The team is well into pre-production and from the concept art that I have seen so far, Star Wars Episode VII really looks amazing.”

He added that Episode VII will pick up the story 30 years after the events of 1983’s Return of the Jedi.

One final piece of Disney franchise also emerged from the talk – a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie is also in development despite the fact that Disney had now parted company with Jerry Bruckheimer – but nothing has been greenlit.
