Charlie Hunnam set for John Hillcoat's Triple Nine

Pacific Rim

Story by Jack Foley

BRITISH actor Charlie Hunnam is to play a cop in new John Hillcoat crime drama Triple Nine.

The film, which is still in the process of being financed, would follow a heist in LA in which a group of thieves plan to kill a cop (a “Code 999”) to divert authorities from their own crime scene across town.

Hunnam is attached to play the cop while Christoph Waltz and Cate Blanchett also are being eyed for roles – although no deals are in place, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Matt Cook has written the script for Hillcoat to direct.

Hunnam is best known for his role in biker drama Sons of Anarchy but he also starred in this summer’s robots-vs.-monsters epic Pacific Rim as well as indie crime drama Deadfall.

He next will reunite with director Guillermo del Toro on Crimson Peak.
