Chiwetel Ejiofor reportedly top choice for next James Bond villain
Story by Jack Foley
OSCAR nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor is reportedly the actor of choice to play the next James Bond villain in the follow-up to Skyfall.
According to US trade publication Variety, the star of 12 Years A Slave is being actively courted by 007’s producers.
The report does point out that no offer has been made and scheduling remains to be sorted but sources are quoted as saying that Ejiofor is the front-runner for the job.
Daniel Craig is already set to return as Bond along with new series regulars Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris. Skyfall director Sam Mendes is back behind the camera.
The producers intend to start shooting in the summer with a view to meeting the film’s release date of November 6, 2015.
As yet, there is no name confirmed for the next Bond adventure, nor plot. But the producers are believed to want to follow the example of Skyfall‘s success, which saw Javier Bardem win widespread critical acclaim for his portrayal of the villain last time around.
Ejiofor is currently filming Z For Zachariah alongside Chris Pine and Margot Robbie and is also attached to John Hillcoat’s Triple Nine.
