Story by Jack Foley

CHRIS Hemsworth has officially now signed up to play the male lead in Universal’s Snow White And The Huntsman.

The Australian actor – currently to be seen raking in the box office bucks as Marvel superhero Thor – will play the titular huntsman in the new fairytale adaptation.

He will join >Twilight‘s Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Pirates of the Caribbean: on Stranger Tides newcomer Sam Claflin

Snow White And The Huntsman is an alternative take on the classic fairytale, which sees the Huntsman go on the run with Snow White after disobeying the evil queen’s orders to kill her.

Confirming the casting, Universal Pictures said in an statement: “In Snow White and the Huntsman, Stewart plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Theron) who is out to destroy her.

“But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the one girl threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Hemsworth) who was dispatched to kill her. Claflin plays the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.”

Ironically, a rival movie based on the story, The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, is also in the works.

Hemsworth is currently one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors following the succes of Thor. He is currently reprising that role for Marvel spin-off The Avengers
