Chris O'Dowd for The Coward

Chris O'Dowd in Bridesmaids

Story by Jack Foley

CHRIS O’Dowd is to star in The Coward, an adaptation of a Nick Jones play.

The British actor will star alongside Adam Driver in a film being directed by Max Winkler.

Set in 18th Century England, the story follows the cowardly son of a nobleman (to be played by Driver), who hires a common criminal (O’Dowd) to fight in a duel after seeing his six other brothers already killed in such contests.

But sensing an opportunity to improve his own life, the criminal tries to kill the man and take his place in high society, something the man’s father also completely goes along with.

O’Dowd is currently in hot demand since breaking through in America with Bridesmaids. He has already worked with Driver on HBO’s Girls and is starring in the cable channel’s Christopher Guest show Family Tree, which debuts in May.

His other forthcoming film roles include Thor: The Dark World, now in post-production, and the indie St. Vincent de Van Nuys with Bill Murray.
