BRITISH actor Chris O’Dowd has been cast as a villain in the big budget remake of Gulliver’s Travels starring Jack Black.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that The IT Crowd TV star will play a character called Edward, Gulliver’s nemesis on Lilliput. He will join a cast that also includes Amanda Peet, Emily Blunt and Jason Segel.

Directed by Rob (Monsters Vs Aliens) Letterman, Gulliver’s Travels offers a contemporary take on the classic story with Black playing a modern writer named Lemuel Gulliver who finds himself sidetracked onto the secret island of Lilliput while on assignment in the Bermuda Triangle.

O’Dowd has recently made the leap from small screen to big with critically acclaimed performances in Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel, alongside Anna Faris, and Richard Curtis’ ensemble The Boat That Rocked.
