Chris Pine's Jack Ryan movie loses director

Star Trek

Story by Jack Foley

CHRIS Pine’s long-gestating Jack Ryan movie is on the search for a new director.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jack Bender has now departed the project citing a scheduling conflict.

He recently took on directing and executive producing duties for the Syfy pilot Rewind.

Paramount is seeking to revive the Jack Ryan character made famous by Harrison Ford with Pine in the lead role.

The company still intends to begin filming this summer, once Pine finishes Star Trek 2.

It means the search is now on in haste for a new director.

Bender, who is hitherto best known as an executive producer and director on ABC’s Lost, is currently an executive producer and director of Fox’s Alcatraz.
