Chris Wedge to direct animated Leaf Men

ICE Age creator Chris Wedge will next direct Leaf Men, based on the popular illustrated children’s book.
An adaptation of William Joyce’s The Leaf Men & The Brave Good Bugs, the film will follow the fortunes of a troop of bugs as they try to save a garden from an evil spider queen. In order to do so, they enlist the help of some mythical Leaf Men to help them.
Variety reports that Wedge will direct the animated adventure for Fox Animation’s Blue Sky Studios.
He almost secured a deal to move to Pixar with the project but was persuaded to stay with Blue Sky by Fox, who are riding high off the success of the last Ice Age movie, Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
