Christian Bale for revenge flick Out Of The Furnace

Christian Bale in The Fighter

Story by Jack Foley

CHRISTIAN Bale is in talks for revenge drama Out Of The Furnace for Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper.

The film, formerly known as The Low Dweller, follows the fortunes of a man who is released from prison hoping for a peaceful home-coming only to find those plans thwarted when his younger brother is murdered, thereby setting him on the path to revenge.

Bale had previously been linked to the film in its earlier incarnation but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Ridley Scott had also been lined up as a potential director and is now producing.

The hope is that veteran actor Robert Duvall, who has already worked with Cooper on Crazy Heart, will provide heavyweight support.

Bale should start filming in the spring, ahead of his press commitments for final Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, and subsequent filming commitments on Terrence Malick’s drama Knight of Cups.
