Christian Bale to reunite with David O Russell for con thriller
Story by Jack Foley
CHRISTIAN Bale is to reunite with director David O Russell for his next project, an as-yet untitled conman drama.
The film already boasts a strong ensemble cast including Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner and Amy Adams.
Based on a true story, the drama will follow a notorious financial con artist (to be played by Bale) and his mistress/partner in crime (Adams), who were forced to work with a federal agent (Cooper) to turn the tables on other con artists, as well as mobsters and politicians.
Renner, meanwhile, will play ‘the passionate and volatile leader of the New Jersey state assembly’, who is also the local hero and mayor of impoverished Camden.
Bale had been attached to the project some months ago but dropped out, only to reverse that decision and come back on board.
For Russell, the film marks several reunions. As well as Bale, who won the best supporting actor Oscar for the pair’s last collaboration on The Fighter, Russell will also be reteaming with Amy Adams from The Fighter.
And Cooper, meanwhile, worked with the director on his most recent success, the Toronto favourite Silver Linings Playbook.
Production is due to commence in February next year (2013) on the East Coast.
