Christoph Waltz to play Green Hornet villain

AUSTRIAN actor Christoph Waltz has been cast as the villain in The Green Hornet.
The breakout star of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, Waltz will occupy a role that had initially been offered to Nicolas Cage.
He will join Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz and Asian pop star Jay Chou in the tale of Britt Reid, a newspaper publisher by day who dons the mask and seeks justice at night with his sidekick Kato.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the casting as well as a release date of December 2010 for the Michel Gondry directed blockbuster, which is being viewed as the potential start of a franchise.
