Christopher Eccleston in talks for Thor 2 villain

CHRISTOPHER Eccleston is reportedly in talks to play the villain in Thor 2.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former Doctor Who star is being lined up to play Malekith, the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim.

The Thor sequel, to be directed by Alan Taylor, is officially called Thor: The Dark World and features the original cast.

Eccleston would take on the role originally offered to Mads Mikkelsen, who has since opted to play Hannibal Lecter in new NBC television series Hannibal.

On the big screen, Eccleston’s work includes roles in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, 28 Days Later and Gone In 60 Seconds.

He most recently played Creon in the National Theatre’s take on the Ancient Greek tragedy Antigone.
