Christopher McQuarrie to return to direct Mission: Impossible 6

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation

Story by Jack Foley

CHRISTOPHER McQuarrie is to return to the Mission: Impossible franchise for a second time, to direct the sixth instalment.

The writer-director, who helmed this summer’s hit Rogue Nation, announced the news via his Twitter account, in which he revealed that he will also write and produce.

McQuarrie simply wrote “Mission: Accepted #MI6” on Twitter.

Tom Cruise will also reprise his lead role as Ethan Hunt in the Paramount and Skydance film.

Rogue Nation, which was co-written and directed by McQuarrie, is one of the most highly regarded and profitable films in the Mission: Impossible franchise, having earned $682.3 million worldwide to date.

But McQuarrie’s relationship with Cruise extends further back. He also wrote the scripts for Edge of Tomorrow and Jack Reacher, the latter of which he also directed.
