Christopher Miller and Phil Lord to direct young Han Solo Star Wars spin-off

Story by Jack Foley

CHRISTOPHER Miller and Phil Lord, the directing duo behind the 21 Jump Street franchise and The LEGO Movie, look set to direct a Star Wars spin-off movie focusing on the adventures of a young Han Solo.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the deal is all but done to secure the services of the duo for another of the Star Wars anthology movies that will follow JJ Abrams’ keenly anticipated Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, which opens on December 19, 2015.

This will be followed by Star Wars: Rogue One in December 2016, the first of the anthology movies, which is being directed by Gareth Edwards (of Godzilla fame), and which stars Felicity Jones as a resistance fighter on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.

That film will reportedly be set between Episodes III and IV and is rumoured to feature an appearance by Darth Vader.

Another anthology film focused on the intergalactic bounty hunter Boba Fett was to have been directed by Josh Trank but is now on hold now that the filmmaker has left the project.

As yet, Disney and Lucasfilm had no comment to make about the Han Solo spin-off.
