Story by Jack Foley

CLINT Eastwood is being lined up to replace Steven Spielberg as director of American Sniper.

The biopic stars Bradley Cooper and is based on the book American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in US Military History by Chris Kyle, Scott McEwan and Jim DeFelice.

The film will chronicle how Texas native Kyle came to record the highest number of sniper kills for an American. It is based on a script by Jason Hall.

Spielberg had been attached to direct but has since withdrawn, with Warner Bros now reaching out to Eastwood as a quick replacement. The director is reportedly now in neogtiations.

He is now in production on the adaptation of Jersey Boys and would jump to American Sniper once the musical finishes filming.
