Colin Firth to play Noel Coward

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

Story by Jack Foley

COLIN Firth is to play Noel Coward in a new ‘dramedy’ called Mad Dogs and Englishmen.

The film will follow Coward’s two weeks at The Desert Inn in Las Vegas in 1955, where the acclaimed playwright, director, actor and singer, performed to massive big crowds, including those who came from Hollywood to see him.

As yet, there is no start date for the production, which was announced at Cannes, but Willy Holtzman is writing the screenplay.

The project is one of the first to be unveiled by new America-based company BiteSize, a new multi-platform production company that was unveiled at Cannes by producer Gene Kirkwood (Rocky) and Ron Bloom, CEO of online video firm Mevio.

News of Firth’s casting comes just days after it was confirmed that funding was now in place for another of his acting projects, Devil’s Knot, a biopic of the West Memphis Three. Find out more
