Homeland

Story by Jack Foley

DAMIAN Lewis is to play Rob Ford, the controversial former mayor of Toronto.

The film, named Run This Town, will follow the final year of Ford’s mayoral term. It is shooting in Toronto now.

Although exact plot details remain unclear, it is rumoured to follow a reporter (played by Ben Platt) as he attempts to expose a scandal involving a politician who doesn’t play by the rules.

The politician’s aides, played by Nina Dobrev and Mena Massoud, try their best to handle him and keep the story suppressed.

Additional cast members include Scott Speedman and Jennifer Ehle.

In real life, Ford was mayor of Toronto from 2010 to 2014 but had already established a history of public intoxication and substance abuse.

During his term as mayor, video surfaced of him smoking crack cocaine and he was accused of sexual assault. He died in 2016 at the age of 46.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, most of the supporting characters in the film will be fictitious.

British actor Lewis is currently riding high off the success of his critically-acclaimed TV series Billions, which has just entered its third season. He is also famous for having appeared in the first three seasons of Homeland.
