Daniel Craig still first choice for next James Bond movie

Spectre

Story by Jack Foley

DANIEL Craig remains the first choice to play James Bond in the next film in the 007 franchise.

The revelation was made by one of the series producers during an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.

Executive producer Callum McDougall said Craig was ‘absolutely the first choice’ of series producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson.

He addeded: “I know they’re hoping for him to come back.”

McDougall has worked on nine Bonds, including all of those on which Craig has played the iconic spy: Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre.

Speculation has been rife over who will play the next James Bond ever since Craig asserted – possibly with tongue in cheek – that he’d rather “slash my wrists” than make another movie.

This was followed by the decision by Sam Mendes, director of Skyfall and Spectre, to step down from the franchise to pursue other projects.

Actors believed to be in the frame to take over from Craig should he decide not to reprise the role include Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jamie Bell and Tom Hughes.
