The Woman in Black

Story by Jack Foley

DANIEL Radcliffe is making a new habit of playing real-life people.

Less than a week after the former Harry Potter star was confirmed to play Seb Coe in athletics drama Gold, he has now reportedly signed up to star as real-life journalist Jake Adelstein in Tokyo Vice.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be set against the backdrop of the Japanese underworld and will chronicle Adelstein’s time spent as the only American journalist accepted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Press Club.

He subsequently became known for exposing a scandal and massive corruption that ultimately helped to bring down one of Japan’s mightiest Yakuza bosses, Goto Tadamasa.

The project has been adapted from Adlestein’s memoir Tokyo Vice: An American Reporter on the Police Beat in Japan and will be directed by music video and commercials director Anthony Mandler.

Shooting is due to commence in mid-2014.

In addition to Gold, Radcliffe will shortly be seen playing another real life person, beat poet Allen Ginsbgerg in Kill Your Darlings and also has the romantic comedy The F Word opposite Zoe Kazan, as well as a starring role opposite Juno Temple in the horror-thriller Horns.
