BRITISH filmmaking luminaries Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis have teamed up for an untitled musical comedy.

Details are being kept under wraps but the project is said to be musically themed and set in either the ’60s or ’70s.

The film will be distributed by Univeral Pictures, with Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner serving as producers alongside Matt Wilkinson and Bernie Bellew. Curtis and Boyle will also produce.

Universal is reportedly eying a shoot as early as summer if casting can come together quickly enough.

Boyle – who recently emerged as a possible lead contender to helm the next James Bond movie – is the filmmaker behind Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Slumdog Millionaire (for which he won a best directing Oscar) and Steve Jobs.

Curtis is the celebrated British writer behind such hits as Four Weddings and a Funeral and Bridget Jones’s Diary. He most recently worked on the upcoming Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
