David Fincher to direct chess drama Pawn Sacrifice
Story by Jack Foley
DAVID Fincher is to direct chess drama Pawn Sacrifice, which will follow the life story of American chess icon Bobby Fischer.
The film will follow Fischer’s career from humble beginnings leading up to his historic world championship match against Boris Spassky, according to Variety.
The Se7en and Zodiac filmmaker is also considering the possibility of taking on the US remake of Swedish movie and literary sensation, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
Although there is no deal in place as yet, it is believed that Fincher now leads the shortlist to helm the thriller, based on Stieg Larsson’s bestseller – and whose Swedish equivalent was released in UK cinemas on Friday.
Fincher has just completed work on Facebook movie, The Social Network.
