Deadpool sequel in the works

Story by Jack Foley

A SEQUEL to Deadpool is in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote the first movie, are penning the follow-up, which could move into production quickly to benefit from the strong word of mouth of the original.

Even though Deadpool has yet to open in cinemas world-wide, critics have so far been positive, while early fan event screenings have also been rapturously well received.

And the film is tracking to open to at least $65 million over the upcoming four-day holiday weekend in the US, with some estimates giving it the potential to hit $70 million.

Ryan Reynolds would, obviously, reprise his role as the fast-talking, foul-mouthed avenging anti-superhero and, according to the report, director Tim Miller could also return as distributor Fox is intent on keeping the creative team together.

As yet, there is no word on potential plot or even a release date in mind. But a potential tie in with the X-Men franchise must be a possibility.
