Nights in Rodanthe

Story by Jack Foley

DIANE Lane has been cast as Martha Kent in Zack Snyder’s Superman.

A statement released by Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures said that the actress has been cast as “the only mother Clark Kent has ever known”.

Snyder added: “This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman.

“We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”

As of yet, no other roles have been filled even though speculation is rife that Kevin Costner could play Jonathan Kent. He has been reportedly identified as “a person of interest”.

Viggo Mortensen was also in the running to play General Zod, according to several reports earlier this week, but could now be moving away from the project as he looks likely to confirm a role in Universal’s Snow White & The Huntsman.

Snyder’s Superman reboot is set for a December 2012 releae and is produced by Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder.

The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer and is based on a story by Goyer and Nolan.
