Disney sets release dates for Frozen 2, The Lion King and moves Indiana Jones

Story by Jack Foley

DISNEY has set a number of release dates for some of its biggest forthcoming titles, including the sequel to Frozen and its live-action version of The Lion King.

Frozen 2 will be released in cinemas on November 27, 2019.

Prior to that, Jon Favreau’s keenly-anticipated live-action reboot of The Lion King will open that summer, on July 19, 2019. The project marks the director’s follow-up to The Jungle Book, which became one of the biggest box office hits of 2016.

The Lion King‘s date comes at the expense of the new Indiana Jones movie, which now moves back a whole year to July 10, 2020. Although given that work has yet to start on that film, it’s easy to see why that decision was made.

Also going back is Gigantic, an animated family blockbuster, which moves two years further down the line, from November 21, 2018 to November 25, 2020.

The studio is also pushing back Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 from March 9, 2018, to November 21, 2018.

And it is moving up Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time from April 6, 2018, to March 9.
