Djimon Hounsou joins Fast & Furious 7
Story by Jack Foley
YET another big name has been added to the cast of Fast & Furious 7.
Djimon Hounsou, of Blood Diamond and Gladiator fame, has signed on to star in an as-yet undisclosed role.
Most of the franchise’s top talent are also returning, including Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, as well as producer Neal H. Moritz and writer Chris Morgan.
However, long-time director Justin Lin has exited the franchise for now, with James Wan stepping in to replace him.
No plot details have yet been revealed except that the action will return to Los Angeles after the previous six films were set in other locations.
This year’s Fast & Furious 6 was the highest-grossing in the series, with $788 million world-wide, prompting Universal’s decision to fast-track No.7 in time for a summer 2014 release.
Hounsou is currently very much in demand. He’ll next be seen in Baggage Claim alongside Paula Patton and Taye Diggs as well as demonic possession drama The Vatican Tapes with Dougray Scott and Michael Pena.
And he also has roles in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and How To Train Your Dragon 2.
