Story by Jack Foley

DOCTOR Who has entered the UK top 10 film chart at No.3 following screenings held in cinemas to mark the 50th anniversary of the Time Lord.

Special 3D screenings of The Day of the Doctor played at 440 UK cinemas on Saturday, November 23, 2013, and took a massive £1.8 million.

It was beaten only by The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – which also set a new UK record – and space drama Gravity.

The programme was shown simultaneously in 75 countries and on more than 1,500 cinema screens worldwide, while several special events in the US were sold out in 11 cities.

Starring Matt Smith, David Tennant and John Hurt as different generations of the Doctor, the episode also featured cameos from former Doctor Tom Baker and future star Peter Capaldi.
