Dumb and Dumber sequel seeking new studio
Story by Jack Foley
PLANS for a sequel to hit comedy Dumb And Dumber have been dropped by New Line Cinema, paving the way for a new studio to potentially pick up the development.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is declining to move forward with the project and has allowed creators Bobby and Peter Farrelly to approach other studios.
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are still attached to reprise their starring roles.
The sequel would follow Carrey and Daniels as they once again hit the road to find Daniels’ illegitimate daughter for a kidney transplant.
The 1994 original helped propel Carrey onto the Hollywood A-list and grossed more than $247 million at the time, having cost just $17 million to make.
The Farrellys are now seeking a new studio quickly in the hope they can hold onto Daniels and Carrey.
