Dwayne Johnson responds to Baywatch Razzie

DWAYNE Johnson has responded to Baywatch‘s Razzie win.

The critically-slammed summer blockbuster was the recipient of a special award at this year’s ceremony: The Razzie Nominee So Bad You Loved It!

But ahead of Sunday’s Oscars ceremony, Johnson took to the Internet to offer some thoughts on the ‘win’, which he graciously took on the chin.

He began by offering up his congratulations to Sunday’s Oscar nominees, before continuing: “I am also excited because I was just informed that I too am bringing home the gold tonight. No, not an Oscar — maybe one day. But a Razzie.”

But in continued good spirits, he went on: “Here’s the cool thing: the movie was so bad that they actually had to create another category. The new category is a movie so rotten you eventually fell in love with it. I’m not kidding, which means the s**t sandwich you’ve been eating is so bad that you eventually started to like it.

“Look, we made Baywatch with the best of intentions, it didn’t work out like that, but I humbly and graciously accept my Razzie.”

Johnson concluded by thanking the critics and fans, summing up the Baywatch honour by concluding: “That’s just the way love goes.”

If it’s any consolation, Johnson didn’t pick up the Razzies top award, which went to The Emoji Movie as worst movie of the year. And he remained in good company, as A-list stars such as Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson were also among this year’s recipients of prizes. Read more
