Elizabeth Debicki joins The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

FRESH from her success in The Great Gatsby, Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki has joined Guy Ritchie’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E..

The reboot of the classic 1960s TV series stars Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer as, respectively, American agent Napoleon Solo and Soviet agent Illya Kuryakin. The former recently stepped in after Tom Cruise exited the project.

According to Variety, Debicki won the role ahead of the likes of fellow Australian Rose Byrne and Charlize Theron and will mark her first leading role. Her part is described as a kind of femme fatale.

She can currently be seen on stage in Sydney opposite Cate Blanchett in The Maids.
