Elton John in talks to join Kingsman 2

Elton John

Story by Jack Foley

ELTON John is in talks to join the cast of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Matthew Vaughn’s follow-up to his 2014 action spy hit.

Although plot details are unknown, Kingsman 2 will continue the adventures of wayward estate kid Eggsy (Taron Egerton) who was taken in and turned into one of the best and brightest British spy operatives.

Egerton will reprise his role from the original, as will Mark Strong – one of the few survivors from the first film. It has also been strongly hinted [by Egerton] that Colin Firth, who perished in the first instalment, will be returning as well.

If the deal with John is successful, the pop icon will line up alongside fellow newcomers Julianne Moore, Halle Berry and Pedro Pascal – although it also remains unclear what role John is taking, although he could be playing himself.

Golden Circle is set to begin principal photography in London with Vaughn returning to the director’s seat. He also co-wrote the script with Jane Goldman.

John has previously been involved in movies before, having won an Oscar for his musical work on 1994’s The Lion King, but his acting efforts have been mostly limited to voiceovers for shows such as The Simpsons, in which he played himself, or acting as a narrator in DreamWorks Animation’s The Road to El Dorado.
