Emily The Strange movie gains Snow White writer

Emily The Strange

Story by Jack Foley

MELISA Wallack has been recruited to adapt the movie version of cult novel Emily The Strange.

Chloe Moretz is currently attached to star as the punky goth created by skateboarder Rob Reger.

Although plot specifics are sparse, it is widely believed that Universal intends to tell an origins story and how she comes to gain her ability to fuse technology and imagination.

It will also draw on her relationships with troublemaker Sabbath, schemer Nee-Chee, imaginative Miles and leader Mystery.

Wallack is currently best known for her adaptation of Snow White for director Tarsem Singh, which stars Julia Roberts and Lilly Collins, and which is currently competing with Universal’s own Snow White and the Huntsman for box office supremacy. Both films are in the production stage.

She also wrote and co-directed Meet Bill, an indie drama starring Aaron Eckhart and Jessica Alba in 2007, and Science Fair, which is in pre-production, both of which were on Hollywood’s famed Black List.

Dark Horse Entertainment has been developing the Emily The Strange character as a movie project since 2008.
