Saving Mr Banks

Story by Jack Foley

EMMA Thompson is to unite with The Mindy Project‘s Mindy Kaling for a new film about a late-night TV host.

The as-yet untitled film is being written by Kaling and is being described as “a cross between Broadcast News and The Devil Wears Prada“.

According to Variety, Thompson will play a veteran broadcaster who is in danger of losing her long-running series after she hires her first female writer, played by Kaling.

Kaling is a hot property on the small screen, where her series The Mindy Project is about to start its fifth season. She has long been a fan of Thompson, having previously cited her admiration for Thompson’s way with words when it comes to discussing her private life.

She also credited her with “always playing intelligent characters”.

On the big screen, Kaling is also attached to the female movie reboot of Ocean’s Eleven.

Thompson’s latest project, Bridget Jones’s Baby, which she co-wrote and also performs in as an obstetrician, is currently topping the global box-office charts.
