Ethan Hawke reunites with Michael Almereyda for Cymbeline

Before Midnight

Story by Jack Foley

ETHAN Hawke is to reunite with director Michael Almereyda for a modern-day adaption of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline.

The film will unfold as an epic battle between dirty cops and a drug-dealing biker gang set in a corrupt 21st Century America.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it will offer a fresh take on a universal story of love, betrayal and revenge that is inspired as much by Sons of Anarchy as it is the style of Romeo + Juliet.

Shooting is due to begin in New York in August.

Hawke previously worked with Almereyda on another Shakespeare work, Hamlet, in 2000.

The actor was most recently seen in cinemas in indie hit The Purge and Richard Linklater reunion Before Midnight.
