Ethan Hawke set to join Magnificent Seven remake with Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt

ETHAN Hawke is in negotiations to saddle up for MGM’s remake of Western classic The Magnificent Seven.

If successful, the Boyhood actor will line up alongside leading men Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt for director Antoine Fuqua.

Hawke has worked with Fuqua before, on Washington Oscar-winner Training Day.

Haley Bennett, who appeared with Washington in Fuqua’s most recent thriller The Equalizer, is also in the cast.

The movie will tweak the story slightly as it finds a woman (played by Bennett) hiring a disparate group of gunslingers to protect her town from rampaging bandits.

The cast of the 1960 original included Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Eli Wallach and Robert Vaughn, among others and spawned several sequels.

It was, in itself, a remake of Japanese movie Seven Samurai.
