Fast & Furious 6

Story by Jack Foley

FAST & Furious 6 has passed the $500 million landmark globally.

The Universal juggernaut has reached that box office milestone faster than any film in the studio’s history.

In the US, the film, directed by Justin Lin and starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson and Michelle Rodriguez, has held the top spot for two weeks. It also scored the studio’s highest-grossing opening weekend of all time when it debuted over Memorial Day weekend.

To date, Fast & Furious 6 has grossed $180.3 million in the US and $342.2 million internationally, prompting a seventh instalment to be greenlit for release on July 11, 2014.

However, Lin will not be returning to the director’s chair. Rather, James Wan will be taking over with the action reportedly moving back to Los Angeles, having spent most of its time in Brazil and London for the past two movies.
