Felicity Jones in talks for Ruth Bader Ginsburg biopic

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Story by Jack Foley

FELICITY Jones is in talks to star as Ruth Bader Ginsburg in a biopic about the Supreme Court justice’s life.

On The Basis of Sex is to be directed by Mimi Leder (The Leftovers, Shameless) and follows Ginsburg as she fights for equal rights throughout her entire law career.

It will follow her from her days at Harvard University and Columbia Law School through to Washington, where she was appointed by President Bill Clinton and took the oath of office on August 10, 1993.

During her career, Ginsburg has been named one of 100 Most Powerful Women (2009), one of Glamour magazine’s ‘Women of the Year 2012’ and one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people (2015).

If talks conclude successfully, Jones will step into a role that was, at one time, earmarked for Natalie Portman.

Jones, who received an Oscar nomination for her performance in The Theory of Everything, was last seen in the Star Wars stand-alone Rogue One as well as the indie drama A Monster Calls.

She is currently attached to star in a movie inspired by the classic ballet story Swan Lake with Call Me By Your Name helmer Luca Guadagnino attached to direct.

The screenplay for On The Basis of Sex has been written by Daniel Stiepleman and was placed on the 2014 Black List.
