FOREST Whitaker and Daniel Kaluuya have joined the cast of Marvel’s Black Panther.

Whitaker, who will soon be appearing in Disney/LucasFilm’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will be playing Zuri, an elder statesman in Wakanda, while Kaluuya, who starred in films like Kick-Ass 2 and Sicario, will play W’Kab, a confidant to T’Challa.

Chadwick Boseman, who debuted his T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War, will lead a cast that already includes Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o and Danai Gurira. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler, of Creed fame.

For the Oscar-winning Whitaker, Black Panther will mark a reunion with Coogler, given that Whitaker produced Coogler’s breakout feature Fruitvale Station, which starred Jordan.

Also new to the cast is Winston Duke, who has been cast as M’Baku, the leader of a rival Wakandan tribe, and Florence Kasumba, who will be reprising her Captain America: Civil War role as Ayo, a member of the Dora Milaje, the body guards of the Black Panther.

Black Panther is due for release in cinemas on February 16, 2018.
