FOREST Whitaker is in talks to join Johnny Depp in Labyrinth, a true life drama that will follow the criminal investigation behind the murders of rap legends Tupac Shakur and Notorious BIG.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Whitaker would play a journalist who teams up with Depp’s disgraced LAPD detective, who has been unable to solve the mysterious deaths of two of hip-hop’s biggest stars.

The film is based on a former Black List script by Christian Contreras, which he adapted from journalist Randall Sullivan’s book.

It is being directed by Brad Furman, of The Lincoln Lawyer and The Infiltrator fame.

Whitaker is currently riding high in UK cinemas as part of the ensemble cast of sci-fi stunner Arrival and will next be seen in the first Star Wars standalone, Rogue One.

He will also star as Bishop Desmond Tutu in the biopic The Forgiven and has further landed a part in Marvel’s Black Panther movie.
