Gal Godot to play Wonder Woman in Superman sequel

ISRAELI actress Gal Gadot is to play Wonder Woman in the upcoming Superman sequel.
The follow-up to this year’s Man of Steel has already cast Ben Affleck as Batman but Wonder Woman’s addition was a surprise announcement by Warner Bros via Facebook.
The casting marks the first time Wonder Woman has ever appeared in a major Hollywood blockbuster and looks set to continue Warner Bros’ push to create a Justice League movie to rival Marvel’s Avengers.
Up to this point, the character, otherwise known as Diana Prince, is best known for her appearance in 1970s TV series featuring Lynda Carter.
Speaking about the casting, director Zac Snyder said: “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favourite in the DC Universe.”
Gadot, 28, is best known for featuring in three of the six Fast & Furious movies. She’s also a past winner of the Miss Israel title.
Snyder added: “Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”
Man Of Steel, starring Britain’s Henry Cavill as Superman, took more than $660-million at the worldwide box office.
Cavill will return as Superman, while the as-yet untitled sequel will also reunite Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) and Diane Lane (Martha Kent).
It’s scheduled for release sometime in 2015.
